1 Month left
Hello to all.
Sailing Sailing, time passes, the wheel rotates, and there remains more than a month before my internship ends. One month will be warm enough, because Weinstein has set his mind to try to publish my article. What makes a good ego, but will force me to work this past month, and it suits me not ... Meanwhile, SPIL will happen, I will have to prepare my departure, my thesis registration, all that. So with all this I certainly do not have time to post as often as before, so I warn (people who are bored can still see on the blog Pairraud because it will soon make fart of articles is that of Jim soon to be released book of 2000 pages, or that of Caro because the Japanese are crazy). In same time I had much left to say, most areas were seen (rest Upper East Side, East Village and Lower East Side . Williamsburg And TFW), I become afraid to say big shit on my sociological analysis, the more I realize that nothing is simple, and the shots it will so long. So voila, here you will see much more of New York. By cons, then you'll get to Boston (if I could find a **** hotel), and then after I give myself a nice trip in July: Chicago-> New Orleans via home of the Blues and Folk.
So go the days prior scroll like crazy until my triumphant return to Paris on July 22. In Paris or I'd stay a while to find me an apartment, because, as bcp already know, my thesis has relocated to Paris, which is cool.
The photo has nothing to do but is not bad in my state of mind. The cow, NYC is far away! Well, if I start has already crossed it's wrong to be nostalgic ...

Immunization Record Ontario How To Get
Neighborhood: Chelsea
And we end our trip to West Coast by Manhattan Chelsea neighborhood that is a buffer between Midtown and Greenwich Village . This neighborhood, might as well say right away, I brood contempt poster. Certainly more ignorance than anything else, I am ready to admit. Here are some facets of Chelsea the guides indicate.
First there Ladies' Mile . I was talking to the Madison Square . It is this street, from years 1880, saw women in their best outfits to go shopping in department stores. I had a little (lot) of plant location, buildings are most visible on 6th Avenue between 18th and 23th Street. Here you will find pictures in bulk. Each building has its history, since no brand has gone now has survived all these years. Nothing to say, then, we knew to build things in flung ...
Scattered around the 23th Street, some buildings have a history feature. The Church of the Holy Communion is a church which, besides having a name the con, has a legendary nightclub in the 90s was a hub for drugs. The Corner was a famous theater, time, or Broadway shows were not yet installed a Midtown. Traffic Building was built by Macy's before they settled on the 34th. Chelsea Hotel is a legendary hotel that houses the wildest people, and saw them die qqs also not necessarily a natural death ( wiki explains everything). And finally, London Terrace Towers , is a complex built in 1930, a little the Stuyvesant Town, which offers more than 1,500 homes on a block!
Chelsea is also its historic heart. Between 20th and 22nd Street, 9th and 10th Avenue, probably the quietest blocks in the city. Very cute little houses, built by mid-1800. Italian Style, Greek Revival style, one is immersed in an atmosphere much more European than American. Quiet and relaxing. It loiters in the shade of trees, at the mere sound of birds. Sweet life ... Some pictures here .
And all the west, between 20th and 25th Street (ie just above the Meat Packing ), there are art galleries. Same story for the Meat Packing , Galleries District has offered to large warehouses cheaper elsewhere, on which the galleries were thrown. Some stores still work (movers, garage ...), and contrast with the creations of modern art.
So why after all that I do not Chelsea ? Probably because I see too clearly the role of money. Whoever did live or let die parts of this district. And that still governs. Silver vulgar Ladies' Mile as a Midtown ; money individualistic as a Historic District Gramercy ; money has haughty as the Gallery District Meat Packing. No, really, there's much better to do, walking south in the Village.

District: Meat Packing District
Meat Packing District is a small neighborhood located along the Hudson River , west of Village , and is a little on our side chicos, bobo. As its name suggests, is the former site of a huge meat market. But today, of course, everything changed. As Village, one has the right to a side day and night side, completely different.
By day, the neighborhood looks like a small village. The buildings are relatively low, the streets paved, some trees added to the table. The small photo the typical French bistro illustrates the atmosphere. The problem is that we are not in France, a bistro in NYC franchouille is necessarily artificial. The two big bouncers at the entrance of blacks in the evening is the proof, and destroyed the beautiful image a bit. Look at this new photo attentively behind the peaceful and summer, large pubs good American. Yep, this area is haunted by the luxury clothes shops, designers, design, etc.. That said when we know, nothing shocking, and it's always nice to walk there to admire the beautiful cars or supermodel be photographed (under better conditions than me). Or girls supermodel frankly not get any parades alone, donning clothes phew ill certainly buy right here. Hussein saw a burlap poncho has sold $ 700. The Swiss exaggerate but still.
A perfect example of this culture of chic decadence worked, the Chelsea Market . Its name suggests, rather in the neighborhood of Chelsea (coming soon), but I think his concept works better for Meat Packing, and then I do what I want. That building . In fact it is all right, it distorts the picture. A shot of photoshop and everything is settled ... No ads, hard to find the entrance, and yet has within it a real mall. Former biscuit factory, then printing, superb renovation gives an incredible atmosphere, surreal and overwhelming. The Photos speak of themselves.
Well on the banks of the Hudson are very nice, and invaded the first rays of sun. You can admire the New Jersey , and the ugliest buildings in Downtown . See photo (with good eyes, we guess Lady Liberty ). and the West coast of Meat Packing . The filth in the middle of the photo is a building under construction which will surely a magnificent view of NYC, while the tempering, a concept which is probably very profitable financially.
And at night, seen converging from all over New York girls in evening dresses, guys in suits. You do not see that bars concepts, new boxes, etc.. I have made no: Prices are not displayed but are certainly beyond my means. And they probably would not let him ... That said, if I was young and rich (no need to be beautiful, a priori), I think I spend very pleasant evenings here. I wonder who thought même.C is perhaps a sign that it is time I come to appreciate the true warmth of a good Mario Kart with friends, rather than violet light superficial trendy bars.

Bleach Ultimate Battle
Neighborhood: West Village / Greenwich Village
the agenda this week, while the west corner of Downtown . This is the place I like in NYC, and if I have been slow to speak, because the atmosphere is pretty hard to describe. So I would have taken the time to abandon the idea that I can make a beautiful presentation, without too many cliches or shortcuts. Too bad, he will come for you to feel yourself the atmosphere complex, changing and particular the West Side. It starts with the best (as it is done): West Village and Greenwich Village . Although less known than Harlem, Chinatown or Midtown, this area does is nevertheless one of the most popular with New Yorkers themselves. And when we see movies really "New York", it is this atmosphere that we see. So much so that the usually called The Village simply. What makes me say that if the soul of New York should be reduced qqs blocks, I think we should find the. The
1910, the neighborhood is beset by students and artists, thanks to the ridiculous rents. The neighborhood comes Bohemia, then underground with the arrival of beatniks in 1950. It is also the gay district. Pace the Backpacker, the district remains one of the essential parts of the nightlife, and for me the most enjoyable. No need to be outrageously industry to be appreciated, the Village is the place to listen to worship a good live jazz.
By day, the district is elusive, but still nice. Impossible to know what's going to see, but there's always something.
Cote Greenwich was the Washington Square Park , with its famous arch his exhibitions, demonstrations . Back a little, found the friendly Washington Mews , former stables of 1850 turned into an artists' workshop. Many buildings are owned by the NYU (New York University) This partly explains the lively atmosphere. It is also fairly gate-level architecture, with beautiful buildings and massive , churches. We will not fail the tiny cemetery the first Jewish congregation in New York (English and Portuguese), barely bigger than my room or tea Forbes Galleries, Museum of the publisher of the eponymous magazine, which was a big kid .. And you can not miss the 5th most beautiful building U.S. (well, in 1885 ...): the Jefferson Market Courthouse , which is an old fire lookout was. It deserved 3 photos and a link .
Greenwich is also traditionally gay neighborhood. They even have their street ! That said, Gay Street must be one of the smaller streets of Manhattan and Christopher Street is actually the real street gay. Still, we are not prepared to see in France the "Gay Street". Similarly, the fact that black has a very good chance at the presidency (and not through the black vote) is a good slap, and above all a lesson in old Europe. Of course, for gays as for blacks, acceptance has not been without pain (riots violent enough to 1970), and a discreet and touching tribute is in Sheridan Square . This
the corner, the night is quite magical. The tourists go in groups in large machinery making, while insiders will go quietly into the good places, some hidden. Bar Jazz Bar Gay Bar Billiards, Bar Underground, everything that one seeks, it suffices to know! The
West Village, more western, is calmer. Can not imagine that we are still in New York, it's like in London. It is extremely pleasant to hike there, and a guide will indicate the many historic homes, sheltered with famous people. Examples: narrowest house in New York (2m90), or resided Edna St. Vincent Millay, poet Pulitzerisee first wife, who wrote such as "I burn my candle At Both Ends", now popular expression. Or the Twin Peaks, created by and for artists. A priori the perfect place to live, if you have enough money, because even if the neighborhood is not as branch that East Side, or as chic as the Meat Packing , it remains terribly attractive , and we understand why!

Columbia Graduation Ceremonies
week Last, the Columbia campus was taken from a wind of madness: the graduation ceremony. Well, I have still not grasped the American educational system, but prior to graduation (Graduation) 5 is a bin with a BA +3, wholesale ... The level difference with Europe is fairly clear, but the Americans catch up quickly behind them when they make theses, thanks to a hard job. And like in private. Brief.
we know, everybody knows, graduation is a major event for the student, but also for the whole family. The photo on the Graduation throne prominently in the family home, next to that of marriage. I was pretty anxious to see it up close, and you can dial one of my famous sociological analysis. Bah
And now I am no further ahead, I understood nothing. I'm not sure what to make of all this, and why can not a point that graduation is so important.
In practice, all week was marked by "small events", while "large" was Wednesday. Each course (Science, Journalism, Education, Literature, etc..) Has a small ceremony. I went quickly with Aude was that of the Fu Foundation (which includes physics and engineering). Frankly not dreadful. Tents were installed in the middle of campus. While parents and friends settled, the newly graduates waiting (badly) caches. People who clicked on the link above have found that the color of Columbia, is light blue. What is nice, but not the class. Students quickly pass parents before the tent and settled in a tent hand. And begins an endless series of speeches, more or less well done. It goes to the director of Columbia responsible for a assoc 'student who proudly announces that it has raised more money than in previous years (that a criterion for success as another) ... All transcribed on large screens so that we can comfortably bored.
ceremony Wednesday was much more impressive. I think roughly 5,000 people gathered at the campus. One does not enter without a ticket or invitation. Inside a mess, but it is true that impressive. And then the ceremony begins, and it is still an uninterrupted series of speeches and pompous music. On this photo , the director explains briefly what the girl must have her right a doctorate Honoris Causa . In short, thousands of on, dressed for the occasion, are quickly ch ...
So difficult to explain such a craze (because there is really infatuation, families are thousands of miles to see it). Not for the ceremonies, perfectly boring. It is not for the value of the degree, fully symbolic (everyone has it, then count the notes only). It can not be just out of habit, tradition. Maybe because the whole family is really bleeding the four veins in order to reject a good offer as Columbia University. And without a little pomp, the disappointment of education, not really so good that it would be too palpable.
This last sentence is only my opinion. I leave you with a ptite video and the link for photos.

Sims 3 Graphics Problems Mac
Neighborhood: Staten Island
So Staten Island is one of the 5 boroughs of NYC , as well as Manhattan, Brooklyn , Queens and the Bronx . This island is roughly 2 times larger than Manhattan . And yet, nobody ever talks about, for good Because that is all zero. The people of Staten Island form the Republican splinter group in the heart of the Big Apple Democrat. That vote Bush in stride, and probably McCain soon to mark its difference. Moreover, a recent survey indicates that most islanders would prefer to be administratively detached from NYC. For that alone they deserve contempt. Touristically sucks, and most guides ds do not even speak.
But I still wanted to watch more closely if it was as lame as what they say. In the rain, which certainly did not help me make a good opinion. So in bulk, it yaa Staten Island :
- Verrazano Bridge , linking the island to Brooklyn . You've probably seen at the New York marathon, it's that leave competitors. Unfortunately, we do not pass on foot, and have a good viewpoint to admire it proves a real challenge.
- Small bourgeois houses, lifeless. I am sure that the sun's got to be pretty, and maybe even pleasant, but the rain is really sad.
- A line train (or subway) glaucous, with one train every half hour and crows in the train. Buses work better, but their track is completely random.
- a small historic village, which I unfortunately failed to achieve, the woes of public transportation and weather has been right to me.
short a complete waste of time, the visit to this island. However, all is forgiven because there is a ferry that connects the southern tip of Manhattan, free. The view is superb we pass near the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Tourists no mistake and rush to nicely round trip, well worth it! That said, dogged by bad luck on me, in 3 passages I have not been able to take it in good time and take a picture drinking ...
