Visual Perception - Visual Perception 2
Neuroscientists have not only produced this exciting video (see previous post) but also highlighted some of the mechanisms that control neuron function attention. They thus explain why we can not see the gorilla, when attention is focused:
"When something catches your attention, the specific neurons responsible for the collection in this area visual field are activated. neurons simultaneously inhibitors suppress neighboring brain cells responsible for the perception in the surrounding field. Thus, focusing his attention on something makes it more difficult to perceive what happens around. "
(Brain & Psycho January February 2011).
recent scientific discoveries come thus confirm the empirical knowledge of teachers and their teachings on the essential neutrality of the mind and look for effective vigilance.

Cost Of Cataract Surgery In India
A video full of lessons if you follow the instructions carefully:
Two teams of three people make passes with two basketballs. You must count the number of passes made by Team White. Warning:
- a pass is achieved if the ball passes from the hands of a white player to those of another white player, without being intercepted,
- if the ball bounces on the ground, the pass is good
- only Passes Team White should be counted.
Go ahead, and then return:

The video was produced by the Visual Cognition Laboratory at the University of Illinois.
It must make you think by your sensei about the need to fight to take a look "circular" ( "watch mountain" ), with vigilance neutral.

*** The art of the fugue *** 1 / 2
Inertia peaceful landscape and the people stirring constantly, sort of equilibrium, we allow to think of strange phenomena that occurred recently: why birds they fall from the sky, why fish do they go back to the surface of the water? Inert. Dead. Humans Is the cause of animal slaughter? When we will we realize that some destructive behavior will eventually affect the harmony of earthly elements whose nature needs to constantly renewal. Leaving aside these unanswered questions, talking from the novel by David Homel, The right way.
Benjamin Allan teaches French literature of the second half of the nineteenth century at a university in Montreal. It was in his fifties, asked about the existential conditions of a man who has very little to prove. He is married to Laura, a woman of her age, which she dedicated to art therapy. Parents of a teenager addicted to television. Wear couple misunderstanding lazy trio without upsetting surprise. Ben octogenarian father, Morris, who ended his life in a retirement home. Father Jewish rebels at the irony that Ben visit regularly. The relationship between the two sometimes shy men unconscious is a therapy which neither the one nor the other can not happen. The old Morris, fierce and stumbling, raises framed memorabilia that her son has hidden, his childhood was disrupted by one of his two brothers who beat him outrageously. Until the day when Ben wins a prize for a university essay on the dromomanie, pathology and leakage form of hysteria affecting only men. Finally, something happening in his life, he considers dull and bland. A young woman, Carla McWatt, communications officer at impetuous temperament of an artist, it will give an interview in which invisible waves awaken dormant libido of his interlocutor. Ben will use his sexual attraction to Carla to deceive his boredom away his guilt. The lack of emotional Laura, his wife, who lives only for his profession, he believes. Fragile one and the other which, as the novel unfolds, will reveal its own set of truths and lies. Ben rubs beings that are suffering from a pathological insecurity, a fear based on the adventures of surface. Human Relations unstable interspersed chapters on dromomanie, not reflect a desire not obscure Ben Allan: flee, but to where? Flee oneself to get together at the Institut Philippe Pinel, as did Carla McWatt, voluntary patient, after Ben has unveiled its a terrifying secret disintegrator its status as an artist. "Patient star" of the disturbing Albanna psychiatrist. This makes dolls sordid, fueling a cure neurosis, hence the fatal act.
Curiously, we feel that probing the vulnerabilities of his relatives, Ben Allan rebuilds, endangering belief that everyone is invented to counter its doldrums. The core of the novel revolves around Ben visits his father. Their discussions of the energy that permeates not suspected. Galvanized by the ardor of a mental father's desperate love of life does not blink, Ben, mourns his own desertion, can not stop fooling themselves, seeking what would be best for his fellow while he has no intention of helping anyone.
Roman dense, intelligent. Intimate, contemplative gaze of David Homel is constantly observe what emerges from a society tragic, minimalist. Ben goes from one to another, thus hiding the root causes of its dispersion. The conduct disordered partners instill in him the reasons for this masterful live it. Maintaining an ostentatious unwittingly suffering, Ben knows that offering in exchange. When it occurs, often clumsily, is to resolve deficiencies that help them survive. Roman with a hundred subjects can not be addressed here: how to support old age, resolving grief. Be an ideal father, a husband caring. Recognizing the benefits of immigration. Novel in which childhood is a crucial part, symbolized by objects stored as if the immaturity ate artifacts. Stuffed animals, dolls, rubber dinosaurs. Dialogues, for the most theatrical are imbued with humor effective scenes are irresistible smile, as the meeting of the old Morris with Hassidic group in Outremont. Novel in which the vital signs never end. Their lack avenues and wandering Ben Allan can not continue without facing demands to refusals. Vivid distributed, analyzing the meaning of life, set by people in their own way, with a quiet hysteria. Hence the tick - incurable virus? - Ben perceived by Laura. Demystifying
A very funny short film about the "powers" of karate ...
It's funny, and it's also very intelligent. Indeed, the comedy comes mostly from the fact that the hoax is shown (the props in black outfit), because almost supernatural powers of the "master" are not so far from what is being shown in videos supposedly serious (you can see many videos on the web "masters", sometimes known, knock or throw the opponent without touching it). The comic effect is less of a caricature as the highlight of the hoax.
We should remember every time we are witnessing a hoax, whether made knowingly or good faith, because it still relies on our desire to believe in the existence of supernatural powers.

A book spanning the centuries *** 1 / 2
We look at the window it fits a whiteboard, the branches of a maple crisscrossing the broken black lines. It is part of the winter so in miniature. If we hurry his desolation, his pleasures snowy reassuring look, intoxicate the body. It will arm so patience in reading the novel by Francis Malka Drowning seller's umbrellas.
entertaining and unsettling novel that becomes a dull start to the year, as is often the aftermath of excessive celebration. We deport in the year 1039, in Arles, a Wednesday afternoon. There is intense heat. A young shoemaker, eight deniers in his shoes, goes to the dock which houses gardeners, the butcher, the fishmonger. After purchasing this appropriate for a delicious meal, he goes home when the faint voice calls. A man, neither young nor old, offered him a red umbrella, indicating that this object was invented by the Chinese for centuries. A week later, the merchant and shoemaker meet again, begin a conversation about the usefulness of umbrellas during the summer. The narrator buys the red umbrella and to support him, the dealer gives him a book that should open until ten days later. The shoemaker goes home, the book in his shoes, the red umbrella in hand.
The lapse of time, events will rush. The shoemaker realizes that the book says all he has lived the last ten days. Mystification which it would have happened at a time when the life of a human, even honest, not worth Tripet. Gradually, as the daily hassles beset the young man, he writes in the book, thinking and divert the course of time and, more daring, try to confuse historical facts. Prodigy book, every desire fulfilled the artisan, which will make it suspect in the eyes of his peers, who accuse him of witchcraft. Removed in an ox cart by superstitious country folk, exiled from the kingdom of Provence, we find him at Pisa, in the year 1178. He became a wealthy merchant of fabrics, so rich that it will divest its profits. The first day of each month, he will hold a banquet to benefit the needy at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, loaned by the Hospitaller Order. He discovered that altruism does not exist, its good deed disturbing to the authorities, companies are sharing power. 'The institution most irritated by this case was the bishopric of Pisa. "Manhandled, tried before the court in the city, it will be cleared through the dubious curiosity of the Archbishop then-Ubaldo Lanfranchi. Once again, the book will speak on his behalf. With the connivance of the captain of a galley, our trader will flee from Pisa. In Genoa, where he fled, he manages the business prosperous. He admitted that his years Genoese be among the sweetest. Years will turn into decades and then centuries ... In 1491, her blissful slumber will be interrupted: a February morning, a stranger steal the book. A note slipped under her door she will see you at an inn on the wharf.
We address the most intense part of the life of the former cobbler. The obvious intent of the book to steal the lead Amerigo Vespucci. Man wants to thwart the plans of a man named Christoff Corombo who plans to sail to India. It is sufficient that the regulator of the book writes a note to thwart the plans of the browser. After futile wrangling, the character will have no choice but to obey the orders of Vespucci: it must accompany Corombo to India. Crossing of the most exciting, Francis Malka using true basics of adventures he dresses popularized fanciful stories. Juggling with the avatars of past centuries, the narrator in the ledger a hypothetical future that only he manipulates. Back from a perilous journey, always thank you to the blackmail of Vespucci, he agreed to write a letter of recognition that will give him years later. Meanwhile, it has recovered the book he used "sparingly," has crossed the centuries. In 1893, our hero lives in Vienna, he is in love with a certain Sophie, maid of honor at an Archduchess. Ambitious, it is a title of nobility which will honor her lover. Sophie married the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary. We know the tragic end of the couple.
strange story, strange book which, like a faithful dog, acquiesces to the wishes of his master. Having an independent existence, but also its obverse and reverse, he bristled whenever its buyer inadvertently interfere in a situation unlikely. The book starts cataclysms that nobody can control. Who wrote the book? What draws allegorical precept does the story of a hazardous life? What happened to the book when the shoemaker invariably returns to its original state? Is it a tribute to all the books which, through the centuries, have survived the ravages of their detractors? Human and books are doomed to live and die together? In collusion with the memory investigator, as an extension, we believe the film Fahrenheit 451, directed by François Truffaut . So many questions, sometimes obscure, asked by Francis Malka. Is it important to identify an answer, the novel has charmed us, asked. The author himself, he escaped the grasp of the magic book, the narrative down the perils of a man returned to what it was. The moral would it unable to escape his destiny, as dramatic or emotional as it is? The impression remains that the book is akin to the dream of Don Quixote lost in the conquest of itself ... Read
