Visual Perception - Visual Perception 2
Neuroscientists have not only produced this exciting video (see previous post) but also highlighted some of the mechanisms that control neuron function attention. They thus explain why we can not see the gorilla, when attention is focused:
"When something catches your attention, the specific neurons responsible for the collection in this area visual field are activated. neurons simultaneously inhibitors suppress neighboring brain cells responsible for the perception in the surrounding field. Thus, focusing his attention on something makes it more difficult to perceive what happens around. "
(Brain & Psycho January February 2011).
recent scientific discoveries come thus confirm the empirical knowledge of teachers and their teachings on the essential neutrality of the mind and look for effective vigilance.
